Equipment
Equipment and outfit choice is f great importance to have a great tour, especially if it’s your first tour of the kind. Concerning the tour equipment everything is rather simple. Your clothes should neither restrain you while moving nor hang loosely cause in this case you can get entangled in it on the rock. The most convenient variant is clothes made of elastic fabrics. The fabrics should be pleasant to wear. As for the trousers they should protect knees that is about three fourth of standard length. Multitudinous producers offer a wide range of climbing clothes. Now, let’s find out what equipment you exactly need for a climbing tour:
- Climbing shoes
- Harness
- Chalk bag
- Chalk
Attention: Harness and climbing shoes require a try on before you buy it! Climbing shoes should fit the foot tight but if you can’t stand them on even for a minute we recommend you to take larger shoes. You should yield to no persuasion if you are told that your shoes should be one size smaller or that it’s a normal thing with shoes. At the beginning you are to feel comfortable wearing the shoes or there’s a possibility that the only thing you’ll concentrate on is the moment you take these lousy shoes off and this nightmare is over. Your task is to find a gold mean that is shoes that fit tight and comfortable. Otherwise you won’t be able to make use of small footholds. The harness should fit tight but in no case pinch. But if it makes you feel uncomfortable - give up the idea of buying this one without slightest hesitating and try on another one! The harness reqires to be obligatory certified by UIAA. Chalk is a white powder meant to prevent palms from getting wet and to increase the safety of a grasp. Besides powder there’s also a chalk liquid in bottles (the effect is the same). Firms producing chalk are Camp, Petzl, Vau De, Beal etc. The chalk is sold in teens, polyethylene pockets and bottles (liquid one), pressed blocks and small balls. The spherical form enables evenly spreading the chalk round the palm, it’s more convenient to use and reduces the outgo. If you use chalk you automatically use a chalk pocket. There are different kinds of them, such as deep and shallow, cylindrical and narrow ones. The form doesn’t influence the choice, the main thing here is that it should be convenient to you personally. We as the organizers of the tour will supply you with all necessary climbing equipment, such as: ropes, runners, fixed pro and carabiners.
