Our offers
The Absolute altitude of the Crimea mountains is considerably low (the highest is Roman-Kosh - 1545 m), but the Crimea cliffs’ length can be compared to Alpine and Caucasian ones. Minor route length (up to 10 ropes) is countervailed by the high grade of routes. If you like warm complex rocks and blue sea, you’ll find it cool here.
Most cliffs popular with climbers are faced southwards, to the sea, and situated in immediate proximity to it. Inwards the rocks have treed sloping flanks. As for alps they are broad stony tables (mountain pastures). Due to this peculiarities the descents are easy and convenient and the climb problems are over at mountain pasture stage.
The South Crimea Cost climate is subtropical, that’s why the climbing season lasts here all year round. Though the period most convenient for climbing is the latter half of spring and the first half of autumn. It can be too hot in summer and too cold in winter.
If any hardman tells you, that the Crimea is insignificant and genuine climbers set very little store by it, you shouldn’t put too much trust in his words. It’s most likely that the man hasn’t passed any of the Crimea routes himself. Just try and there’ll be no need for comments.
The Crimea routes are conventionally divided into rock-climbing and mountaineering ones. The division is conventional, but it got settled in the Crimea, that’s why to make the further information complete there are some explanations required.
Rock-climbing routes are appointed, furnished with transitional set protection and rings. They are intended for sport climbing and have total extension to 28 m.
Mountaineering routes lead to mountain pastures and one has to organize transitional and permanent protection oneself. The extension of such routes may reach 600-800 m. In such routes rock-climbing skills are required as well as mountaineering, it involves organizing transitional and permanent protection, good command of protection and self protection in cliff route rules.
Recently there have arisen so-called multi pitch climbing routes - they are fit out like rock-climbing ones but have longer extension (about 200-300 m.) and like mountaineering ones lead to mountain pastures.
